The Portland Chamber Orchestra, in collaboration with the Portland Festival Ballet, presents a concert to celebrate the music of Frederic Chopin in the beloved composer’s 200th anniversary year. The first half of the concert features solo piano works performed by Mei-Ting Sun — with choreography by John Magnus, artistic director of the PFB — followed by the world premiere of a commissioned orchestral ballet suite, Homage to Chopin, by young local composer, Katerina Kramarchuck. The work is inspired by Chopin’s musical language. The heartfelt Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 1 in E minor will conclude what promises to be a memorable event.
